PLAYERS ON COMEBACK TRAIL

PLAYERS ON COMEBACK TRAIL Captain Kevin Rutkiewicz and goalkeeper Graeme Smith (pictured) have taken part in a closed-door game against Airdrie United this afternoon as they attempt to kick-start their seasons.

Both players picked up injuries in the programme of pre-season friendlies and have yet to take part in competitive games this season but hope that, barring any unexpected reaction to today’s match, they will be available for consideration for first team duty in the next week or so.

Saints won today’s game 3-2 with goals from Under 19 players Mark Durnan and Steven Reynolds and also a goal from former Rangers player Jonatan Johansson who is currently unattached and has been enjoying training facilities at McDiarmid Park over the past week ahead of being part of the Finland squad for next week’s internationals. The arrangement is purely informal with no prospect of the 34 year old joining the club.

Meanwhile it has today been confirmed that the Co-operative Insurance Cup Fourth Round match against Dundee United at McDiarmid Park will take place on Tuesday 27th October at 7.45pm.

Admission that night will be £20 for adults and £10 concessions in all stands – season tickets will not be valid.
