PREPARATIONS CONTINUE FOR VISIT OF MOTHERWELL

PREPARATIONS CONTINUE FOR VISIT OF MOTHERWELL The plans of Derek McInnes to have a closed-door game for his fringe players this afternoon were once again scuppered by the overnight frost and so as preparations continue for the visit of on-form Motherwell on Saturday, the squad took part in a full-scale practice match on the McDiarmid Park all-weather surface.

Following his dropping out of the Scotland Under 21 squad yesterday, midfielder Murray Davidson is receiving treatment on his troublesome groin injury which he has been unable to shake off for a number of months and the hope is that the current treatment will see him be available for the weekend.

Team mate Cillian Sheridan has had more luck though – the on-loan Celtic player has joined up with his Irish colleagues ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifier against Armenia.

Saints look like being without Jody Morris for the visit of Craig Brown’s side – continued rest is the order of the day for his stomach tear and the manager is wary of trying to bring him back too soon.

Kenny Deuchar, Kevin Moon (pictured) and Graham Gartland – all affected by injury or illness at Easter Road on Saturday should be available for this weekend and that leaves Martin Hardie, Peter MacDonald, Stuart McCaffrey and Kevin Rutkiewicz still out through injury.
