Midfielder Liam was one of Derek McInnes's first new recruits when he took the player on loan from Falkirk - initially for one month but later extended until the end of the 2007/2008 season.

He scored against Livingston in the 5-2 win in December 2007 and also got the match winner in the Scottish Cup tie at Dingwall and generally caught the eye with his performances in the second half of that campaign. Such form prompted Falkirk to offer him a new contract but despite this and interest from other clubs Liam committed his future to Saints by penning a two year deal - a transfer tribunal later set the fee due to Falkirk at £25,000 with add-on clauses

Liam began his career at Ipswich Town and skippered the youth side to victory in the 2005 FA Youth Cup final. However, after finding it difficult to break into the first team at Portman Road, he joined Falkirk during the 2006 January transfer window.

He initially made an impact at the Falkirk Stadium playing regularly in the SPL, but once he fell out of favour he didn’t hesitate to take the chance to move to McDiarmid Park and he was a hugely influential player in the 2008/2009 season, frequently in an unaccustomed left back role – a position which McInnes had struggled to find a player for following the departure of Goran Stanic.

The 2008/2009 campaign got off to an unfortunate start though when Liam was red carded on the opening day of the league season but he bounced back strongly to put in great performances in both midfield and in the left-back slot and he scored a memorable long-range goal at East End Park, Dunfermline at the start of November 2008.

After Saints gained promotion to the SPL, Liam continued to show his worth to the side and he began 2010 in fine style with 2 goals in the Scottish Cup tie at Forfar.

By the end of the season Liam was top league scorer and joint-top overall scorer with kenny Deuchar.
